Last weekend I decided to make the trek down to the Maritime Raceway with Phil Chambers for the 3rd round of the Carpet Wars series. I decided to do the race as I hadn't raced for a long time and also I needed practice for the DHI Cup which is in a month's time. The Maritime track is awesome as it is a permanent venue with super high grip carpet. Saturday was practice day, and after remembering how to drive an r/c car again I managed to get some decent practice in with minimal setup changes, and at the end of the day the Xray car was pretty good.
On Sunday, I qualified in 3rd place after 4 rounds of FTD qualifying. Xray team mate Elliott Tq'd, with Olly J 2nd. In the single leg final, I got up to 2nd during the 1st lap, and then took the lead when Elliott retired on the penultimate lap. I was extremely lucky but very happy to win.
